Write A Play

BIG J's music shop
Jeff: Hey Greg what are your plans for today
Greg: Nothing really, I do need to get a new string for my guitar.
Jeff: Well I am going downtown anyway to run some errands; do you want to ride down Big J’s?
Greg: What and who the heck is Big J?
Jeff: It is that new music store in town near the pizza shop.
Greg: How come I, the best musician in this town, did not know there was a new music store.
Jeff: Well if you must know, the man who owns it just bought the building last week.
Greg: You’re telling me this guy put a store up in a week?
Jeff: Do you want to go or not?
Greg: Yes.
Jeff: Lets Gooooo!!!!
(They began to get in the car and start to drive off)

Jeff: I’m going to drop you off and I will be back in two hours for dinner.
Greg: Thanks for the ride.
Jeff: For sure.
Greg: peace.
Jeff: Peace
(Exit Greg and enters Big J out of the back of the store) (Big J is a very big guy and somewhat intimidating. The thing that eases people is his flamboyant dressing style. He is a wise cunning character)
Big J: Hello, Hello who do we have here?
Greg: (astonished by the man’s appearance and built. He is wearing a bright pink and blue shirt as a really big guy. ) Hi, Hi, I’m Greg. (Puzzled)
Big J: nice to meet you Greg … I am big J and welcome to Big J’s world of music.
Greg: It is an honor.
Big J: Do you play any instruments young man.
Greg: Of course, I play guitar. Since you’re new in town i am not going to take offence. 22
Big J: Why should I know who you are?
Greg: I am the best musician that this town has to offer and will ever see.
Big J: Really
Greg: Really, I have so much skill its ridiculous.
Big J: What are some of your credits?
Greg: What do you mean?
Big J: I mean what the hell you have done to make yourself cocky.
Greg: I think it’s cocky for someone to name a music store after them.
Big J: dumb ass I own it.
Greg: it is still cock and conceited.
Big J: Greg (interruption)
Greg: Its Big G
Big J: Anywhere, What I was saying is that you never explained to me why your worthy of being called best musician.
Greg: I was offered to play with Foo Fighters.
Big J: Why didn’t you take the gig Big shot?
Greg: The gig was too much at the time I was in high school.
Big J: I can dig that.
Greg: How about you? What are some of your credits?
Big J: Well do you really want to know?
Greg: Not really man, I just know it’s not going to compare to mind. You own a music shop.
Big J; You right
Greg: I mean what instruments do you even play?
Big J: Well I play everything.
Greg: What do you mean you can play anything?
Big J: I mean from a small child I had the ability to play any instrument that I put my hand on.
(From There Big J shows Greg that he can truly play everything by going to all 50 instruments and playing a flashy 2 bar solo on each instrument. The instrumentation included way more than your basic; percussion, strings, woodwinds and etcetera, but he played musical instruments from all over the world. The sounds that came from the store where heavenly and people lined to hear wt it was.)
Greg: Big J I didn’t know that one man was capable of doing that. I would have never known
Big J: I do all my talking through my music as well you should.
Greg: I know now that there is way more people are more people that is just as or more musical than me.
Big J: It’s not about becoming the best but mainly being about being humble.
Greg: I understand now, it is more about that attitude.
(Greg wakes up and it was all a dream, and now becomes the best musician mainly because he grasped the concept of being humble. Every musician wants to use him because it is easy to work with him. He wakes up and realize that Jeff and the store never existed.)
The Stage goes blank.
